The Great Pumpkin Patch of Arthur, IL

About a week ago I went on a little trip to Arthur, IL which is known for being a large Illinois Amish town. I loved it there, simple, quiet, peaceful and friendly. Everywhere you went, people were friendly.

One of the main attractions of Arthur is The Great Pumpkin Patch.

The Great Pumpkin patch is exactly what it calls itself, GREAT, I would even call it magical and wonderful.

The patch offers up every kind of squash you can think of, and each variety is not only labeled, but there are signs advising on how to cook them and the price tag is also right there. It's squash for dummies and it's amazing. There is squash everywhere, so colorful and vibrant!

They even have a squash tasting booth on the weekends, GENIUS!

When you arrive at the patch, you get a score card and a wagon and as you stroll through the place and find squashes you want to take home, you mark the sheet, so this way when you get to check out at the end of your journey, they just add up your score card, it's easy peasy pumpkin pie!

Every nook and cranny of this place has got something autumnal and wonderful. There is a garden that you walk through under some beautiful willow trees. The garden has a waterfall and little pumpkin adornments and bird houses.

There is a sweet shop with apple cider and lemonade and pumpkin ice cream and Halloween taffy and other lil knick knacks.

There is a nook that features squashes of the world where they show you what squash comes from what country.

There are also spots where farm animals are displayed. Beautiful chickens, golden pheasants and a goat bridge. It's gated off so you can't bother them, but you watch goats walk across a bridge.
(look at the colors on this chicken! or rooster)

There are corn mazes for all sizes, one for the lil ones and one for the adults.

The patch itself is in the back of the place, you get there by strolling through a field of sunflowers....yes, this aint no fairytale, this is real!

You can pick your own pumpkin and weigh it, simple enough.

There is also a seed store with lil bottles of different kinds of pumpkin and squash seeds, all labeled with a squash sitting next to the bottles so you know what you're buying. The seed store also has ponchos for rainy weather and t-shirts and sweat shirts etc.

And on your way out is the most wonderful gift shop, FULL of and I mean, this is all that is inside AUTUMNAL DECOR! It's a magical orange glow of beauty.

Outside of the patch is also an amish bakery, where you can watch the bakers doing their thing as they bring out warm breads and pastries and it smells divine.

This is one patch I NEED to make an annual trip! I highly recommend going there yourself.
