Yesterday I visited the grave of an Amish "witch."

In the tiny Town Of Chesterville, IL is a tiny cemetery where a peculiar plot is located. There is a tree with a fence around it and the story goes that it is the gravesite of a witch. The grave of an Amish woman who stood up for women's rights and would get in trouble for not agreeing with the faith she grew up around; thus she was branded a "witch". She was found dead in a field and because of her open-minded ways, the town chalked it up to "natural causes". Her body is said to have been buried in this cemetery and the townsfolk planted a tree on top of her remains so that way she wouldn't be able to rise from the dead and use her powers to get revenge. A fence was also constructed around the tree as a barrier to keep her in. The tree has since outgrown the fence, pieces of it were gone and I noticed a post with a lantern hanging. The lantern illuminates no stone, there is no other lantern in the cemetery, so why is it there? A mystery for sure. Instead of leaving flowers to pay my respects, I brought her the 2 pumpkins for some fall love. I told her that we've come a ways but that we are still fighting for women's rights today. I didn't just visit this grave for the spooky lore, but because this was the grave of a woman who was most likely murdered for being an open minded and opinionated female. We don't know her name and there are 2 markers by the tree that are weathered and unreadable. People have said they've seen a ghost around the plot, I hope she likes the pumpkins. Scroll down for pictures.
